Postby FRED » Tue Aug 06, 2019 1:41 pm

Hello
i have this memovox with K855 inside and 1724488 serial on the mvt.
the case seems to be made with brass and covered with chrome but as i know jlc never did that kind of case.
i have shown it to official jlc shop in paris and they confirmed it's a real one but they can't say more.

Can you help me ?

I'm pretty sure it's all steel. I think what happened is they repaired the case back (which is steel and it is marked as steel) and they applied so much heat that it discolored the back. After that, they flash plated the whole case in copper and then rhodium to mask the discoloration of the metal.

Another option is, this watch exists with a gold top and a steel back, and someone decided to plate the top in chrome/rhodium.

i already saw such watchs with steel back and gold case.
i think it is the good option, to be sure i will need to ask JLC for an extract of archives, may be one day...
