Thank you all for keeping this forum alive. First time poster.
I recently inherited this watch from my father (who was 90), which may have also belonged to his father. I am simply trying to find out a little more about it, such as authenticity, age, etc. I've done extensive Google searches and have read all about various case and serial numbers, but none on this watch seem to match any of those patterns or formats. So I'm particularly wondering if this is authentic or not, or maybe just too old to be shown in some of those databases. I'm particularly intrigued by what appears to be two handmade etchings on the inside of the case. One is "W98xi" and the other "S9-N9". Hard to see these in the picture but one is at 10:00 and the other 1:00 (inside of back cover where the other numbers are). If this is authentic, I've seen no reference to similar etchings on LeCoultre watches. Also, can the glass cover be ground to make it less scratched up?
The watch still runs well.
Thank you in advance for any insights.
