Ok, this has come up before many years ago, but I wanted to know if general consensus has changed at all since that time regarding this type of worldtimer. It is currently an upcoming lot in Watches of Knightsbridge. I saw these previously called re-dials, but the print and lume seem so precise no?

It has a JLC-signed movement versus the LeCoultre-signed dial. Anyways I am asking out of pure horological interest.

thanks,
Eric

The dial is made up. Caveat Emptor at auction houses.

Can you run me through the rationale for why this is fake? Apologies for my ignorance. Also, it's disconcerting how high a quality lume job this is. I mean the print looks so sharp too!

Thanks,
Eric

I've been studying this stuff for 25 years. It's not in any of US catalogs of the era and it's a cheap way to make a buck. Black dials in of themselves are quite rare. This is not one of them.

My guess was that it's not in any of the catalogs. Ok well it's still in their auction as of now, they've posted it on their Instagram in fact just recently. Curious what the outcome will be...

The fact that it has a JL signed movement and a LC signed dial is already incorrect.
