A strange vintage Reverso ?

Postby aash » Mon Jan 09, 2017 5:59 am

Dear Zaf,
I am a watch collector with a great affinity for JLC. I have 9 in my collection and have recently acquired a vintage Favre Leuba Reverso (approx. circa 1930-40) . It looks identical to the "Universal Geneve’s Cabriolet ".
I am well aware that Favre Leuba & JLC share a rich history, especially in colonial India
I shall be extremely grateful if you may give me some information and throw some light on this model and the movement. Does it have any connection with JLC?
Regards,
Aash

I would say that it is not connected with JLC. The movement is not one of theirs nor it is a Lisica movement which would have been found in the early 1st generation Reverso.

There are a few Reverso like watches from the era that exist, it's unclear how that panned out in terms of Patents, maybe if it flipped in a different way (which this does) it did not constitute patent infringement. JL acquired the patent from an individual anyway (Alfred Chauvot).
